The Buttery is inviting the community to join us for a free NAIDOC Week ‘Blak, Loud and Proud’ Trivia Night at the Bangalow Bowling Club on Thursday, July 11.
CEO, Leone Crayden, described it as an important and inclusive event and a great opportunity for us all to learn and earn some wisdom about Australia’s First Peoples and their journey.
“We know that National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples,” Leone said.
“Through our small but inclusive event we as an organisation may be able educate and seek reconciliation, with community at the heart and with reciprocal compassion and respect, by promoting an understanding of the ‘why’ behind NAIDOC week – sharing stories of place that can enrich and support authentic approaches.
“If we explore our national history through a spirit of learning, with inclusive grass roots community practices, such as trivia nights, we can learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in a celebration of the oldest, continuous living culture on earth,” she said.
The NAIDOC Week ‘Blak, Loud and Proud’ Trivia Night is proudly supported by The Buttery’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee.
